It's been awhile...

So I was doing really well at keeping up with my picture a day thing until I started getting pretty sick. I was to sick to take pictures everyday and certainly to sick to blog. The reason for my sickness?? I'm pregnant!!! This will be our 3rd boy and we are so excited! He is due to arrive mid March. Anyway, I'm feeling much better these days and since it's almost a new year I decided to do Project Life again. I will be posting on here (hopefully) every Tuesday starting with the 2nd Tuesday of the year. Wish me luck!

Week Twenty-Eight 7/4 - 7/10

7/10/10- I got the kids some sillybandz the other day and they love wearing them.
7/9/10- Triston is writing a story. He has been working on it for a few weeks and I told him when he is done we can type it up and make room for him to illustrate it. He really wants to be an Author/Illustrator when he grows up. Check out how small his handwriting is!
7/8/10- I stop by this blog on a regular basis. Becky is after all the reason for me doing Project Life! I love reading her creative ideas.
7/7/10- I got some new supplies today!! I can't wait to get started on some new pages for my scrapbooks!
7/6/10- Triston took this picture of a tower he built, the thing is over 5ft tall! I'm going to let him write about it in the scrapbook.
7/5/10- Our cat Koda went outside and got dirty today, so naturally I gave him a bath when he got inside. He wasn't happy, but I couldn't help but laugh.
The boy's all doing sparkler's. They were casting spells on each other and making pictures. Triston kept saying "The picture's I make are in 3-D!"
7/4/10- Happy 4th of July!! We had fun lighting fireworks at home this year instead of going and watching the big show on the lake.
Have a great week!

Weeks Twenty-Six and Twenty-Seven

It's July already!!! This year is going by so fast!
7/3/10- I love this picture. I was standing outside and I looked up and this is what I saw. Such a beautiful sky!
7/2/10- I had two big cracks in my windshield that weren't caused by anything hitting it. I called safelite and they took care of it for me. Best part is I was under warranty and I got it for FREE! The boys really thought it was cool when there was no windshield.
7/1/10- We have been having beautiful weather the past couple days so we decided to enjoy it at our friend's house.
6/30/10- Yes I am one of those people that love the Twilight Saga. My friend, her niece and I went to the mid-night (well 12:30) showing of eclipse. It was GREAT, can't wait to see it again! I didn't make it home til about 3:30 though which made for a long day.
6/29/10- Keegan coloring during story time.
6/28/10- This was the boys lunch today. The strawberries were HUGE...these were some of the smaller ones in the bunch!
I took this picture on Saturday night. I think I heard that there was suppose to be a partial eclipse but I'm not sure if that happened. Whatever it was it was beautiful.
6/26/10- We went over to our friends house for a potluck dinner. The kids had a blast and Ian and I really enjoyed talking with our friends.
6/25/10- This is Keegan's girlfriend. They love spending time together and get so excited when they know they get to see each other. They were saying good-bye to each other and we had our camera's out (of course) when they gave each other a kiss. It was so sweet and innocent.
6/24/10- We went to a berry picking farm today with some friends and had a lot of fun but it was very hot so we were only there for 15-20 minutes. Here the kids are picking blueberries.
6/23/10- Ian got me these beautiful flowers on his way home from work today. I really love how sweet he is.
6/22/10- Triston reading during story time.
6/21/10- One wasp, Two cats. Who will be victorious? I'll give you a hint it's not who you'd think.
6/20/10- Catching fireflies in the backyard. I think we all really enjoyed this.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a good week!

6/17/10- I have been dyeing rice for the kiddo's. This is what I have so far.
6/16/10- Triston and his wonderful teacher. He is really going to miss her.
6/15/10- Keegan did a Toy Story puzzle today. He really loves puzzles!

Rainbow Rice

I made some RAINBOW RICE for the kiddo's today.
Since I have 2 boys though I just made GREEN and BLUE!
I did this by trial and error and when I found what really worked I decided I would share it here. I am a big fan of pictures so that you can SEE what's going on.
What you need: rice, food coloring, vinegar, paper towels, trash bags, fine strainer, plastic bowls, cups, straws or spoons, a big container.
Set-up: Put the trash bags flat on the table and on the floor to protect them from the food coloring. Lay down paper towels in long strips on the trash bags on the floor (this is for drying the rice). Set out plastic bowl and cup on trash bag on table. Have an extra paper towel handy for spills!
Side note: I'm not a fan of measuring things I just eye-ball it!
What you do:
step 1~ pour the vinegar in a cup
step 2~ add food coloring (you want the vinegar/food color mix to be concentrated)

step 3~ pour the rice in the bowl (I started with 2/3 cups, you can always add more later)

step 4~ add food color/ vinegar mix, stir to make sure rice is evenly coated

step 5~ add more rice if needed, stirring again to coat it evenly

This is what it should look like

let it set for 5-10 minutes

step 6~ after the color has soaked in you need to drain it (don't rinse it though or the color won't be as strong)

step 7~ remember those paper towel strips? Now you pour the rice onto them and spread it out evenly so it can dry.

once it's dried, 2-3 hours later, pick up the paper towel carefully and pour it into a big container

the finished product....the only downside to this is that it smells really bad!

I am going to be making eye-spy bottles out of some of this for a road trip we are taking this summer. I got the idea for that here. The rest of this is going to house different objects. The kids will have to try to find out what they are using only their hands.

Week Twenty- Four 6/6 - 6/12

6/12/10- We went to the Toy Story 3 party today. The boys had a lot of fun! They really liked getting their faces painted!
This is what Keegan did to keep himself busy during field day. He was such a good boy considering he had to watch everyone else have fun.
6/11/10- Today was field day at Triston's school. Here he is doing the obstacle course. He had a lot of fun!
6/10/10- Keegan and I went to the Playroom today. We met up with our friends from Monday and had a blast. We also met a few new friends. In this picture Keegan is playing with Maddi, his new girlfriend. It took him awhile to figure out that he had to hold onto the white thing instead of sending it down to the other side!
6/9/10- Triston was the "Star of the Week" this week. He got to tell his class about the pictures he brought in to share.
6/8/10- The boy's were playing Sorry Sliders today after Triston got home from school. It was so fun hearing them laughing together!
6/7/10- We met some new friends at the park today. Keegan had so much fun playing at the park and I had a nice time visiting with Kristie!
6/6/10- This is what helps me get through my work day. It also helps me stay warm since it is freezing where I work.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great week!

Week Twenty-Three 5/30 - 6/5

We didn't do a whole lot this week, just the normal everyday stuff.

6/5/10- Went to get groceries today. This is my trunk full of the sacks.
6/4/10-My new favorite bathroom cleaner. I got two tubs and a sink done in 10 minutes. I'm impressed! Side note, as I was using this, Keegan was telling me what they say in the commercial. It was so cute!
6/3/10- Keegan decided he wanted to suntan with me. What he doesn't realize is the sunscreen he has on prevents him from doing so.
6/2/10- We saw this very strange car today while we were out and about. Not something I would drive! (yes I am aware the date on this is wrong and I have fixed it)
6/1/10- The boy's snack containers for the summer. This way they won't be bugging me EVERYDAY about snacks, they can just get there own!
5/31/10- Our local Wal-mart. We go here at least 3 times a week, it's only three minutes away.
5/30/10- What a beautiful storm we had today. The rain was a welcome break from the sun!
